Suspected Chinese spy pigeon released after 8 months: Mumbai police

A pigeon suspected of being a spy for China was recently released in Mumbai. The bird, caught eight months ago, had rings tied to its leg and messages written in a Chinese-like script on its wings. Initially accused of spying, the police dropped the charge after discovering that the pigeon had participated in racing events in Taiwan and accidentally flown to India. The Bai Sakarbai Dinshaw Petit Hospital for Animals released the pigeon in good health after receiving permission from the police.

MUMBAI: A pigeon, suspected to have been used for spying by China, was recently released by the Bai Sakarbai Dinshaw Petit Hospital for Animals in Mumbai.
The bird, which had been caught eight months ago, was found at Pir Pau Jetty in suburban Chembur by the RCF (Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers) police. It had two rings, one made of copper and another made of aluminium, tied to its leg.

Messages written in a Chinese-like script were discovered on the underside of both its wings. Initially, the police had registered a case of spying against the bird, but after completing their inquiry, they dropped the charge.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the pigeon had been participating in racing events in Taiwan and had accidentally flown to India. The hospital released the pigeon after receiving permission from the police.
The bird's medical condition was reported to be in good health.
