Gorbachev to be buried on Saturday; farewell ceremony to be held in Pillar Hall of House of Unions

MOSCOW. Aug 31 (Interfax) - Former USSR President Mikhail Gorbachev will be buried on Saturday, September 3, at the Novodevichy Cemetery, the politician's daughter Irina told Interfax on Wednesday.

"The funeral will take place at the Novodevichy Cemetery on Saturday. The Pillar Hall of the House of Unions has been approved for a farewell ceremony," she said.

She could not say if an official state funeral of the first president of the USSR is being planned.
